Tree Inspections for the BCARM Plant Forum on July 14th, 2022
We were invited to give a presentation on managing tree health and tree inspections in IrisBG to the Botanic Gardens of Australia and New Zealand's Collections and Records Management group, (BCARM), in July. This gave us an opportunity to give a sneak peak of how Field Maps will interact with IrisBG using our IrisBG - ArcGIS Connector.
The IrisBG - ArcGIS Connector will be included with the Data Import Module. It will provide seamless importing and exporting from your IrisBG account into and from your ArcGIS Online Portal. In this Tree Inspection presentation, we show how the IrisBG - ArcGIS Connector exports a saved Inspection Event and creates a feature layer in your ArcGIS Online Portal. You are then able to create a Map View that can be used online or offline by one or more arborist in the garden. The Map View is then opened in the Field Maps application and the fillable form is configured with the fields your Inspection Event. The changes are synchronized back to the cloud after records are edited on your mobile device or on your fellow staff members' devices. Once the Inspection Event is completed the changes are imported back into IrisBG. Stay tuned for tutorials and updates on the release of the IrisBG - ArcGIS Connector!
🌱Don't forget that you can modify the following code lists in IrisBG to meet your Inspection needs: Insp. age class, Insp. condition, Insp. lifetime, Insp. value, and Insp. work type. You are also able to increase the number of items in the list to suit your needs. In the screenshot below I modified the Insp. condition to match the typical tree risk assessment categories.

There were mentions of accessing maps via, and syncing other data with, the "cloud" here. Will the ArcGIS connector implementation require a subscription to the IrisBG Cloud database?
The IrisBG - ArcGIS Connector uses Esri's Field Maps app and ArcGIS Online for cloud data storage and synchronization while collecting data on a mobile device online or offline.
This will require an ArcGIS subscription. Nonprofit organizations, like public gardens, qualify for the Esri Nonprofit Organization Program which provides a subscription that comes at a significantly discounted price.
