Contributing your data to PlantSearch expands the collective knowledge of plant diversity in cultivation. It is also a key step in achieving BGCI accreditation for your organization.
🌱 Do you have wild-collected or cultivated seeds to share? Use BGCI's Index Seminum platform to responsibly exchange seeds and support research, education, and ex-situ conservation.
IrisBG makes it easy to contribute to both platforms. Two dedicated report templates—built with all required fields—are available in the system
Where to find the reports in IrisBG
- BGCI PlantSearch Report
• Go to Reports > 99 Miscellaneous
• Select: BGCI01 – Export BGCI (top of the list) - BGCI Index Seminum Report
• Go to Reports > Store > CatBGCI (BGCI Catalogue)
IrisBG's BGCI PlantSearch report format
The Export to BGCI PlantSearch report includes the TaxonNameFull field, which displays the full scientific name with author attribution.
While “Author” is a separate field in IrisBG (within the Name group), its value is included in the report’s Name field, alongside species and cultivar information.
💡Tip! To ensure the author displays correctly in the report, make sure the Author field has a value. The easiest way to do this is by using the Name Link button to verify the name in your database.

💡Bonus Tip! Automate It.
You can schedule these reports to run automatically and deliver them straight to your inbox. Learn how.
Note:
• New to PlantSearch? Your garden must first be listed in BGCI's GardenSearch.before uploading data.
• The IrisBG Store Management module is required to export Index Seminum (seed catalog) data.
