Q&A
Q: I noticed that images can be added in the Taxa Screen, Accession Screen, and Observation Screen. Is the Taxa image the only one displayed on Garden Explorer?
A: Any time an image is added to the Accession Images tab, that image is shown in the Taxa images screen. Think about what you want on your public facing Garden Explorer. There is a field called 'Rank' in both the Taxa and Accessions Images screens. The number given to the Rank field that controls whether it is shown ion your Garden Explorer. Any image ranked 9 and below will show in the Garden Explorer.

Q: Is there a functional difference between Inspections and Observations?
A: Inspections was developed with trees in mind, and follow a general tree risk assessment format. The Observations module was created to monitor life events like flowering and fruiting over time.

Q: How do you share themes like bloom time in the Garden Explorer?
A: Create a Theme in the Taxa Screen that then can be seen in the Garden Explorer.

Q: Do I need to assign coordinates to a location in IrisBG when creating a new accession?
A: No. You are able to create an accession without a location. However, to save an Accession Item, you must select a location code.
Q: Will the new accession show up on the map if I only have the location selected?
A: Yes, but only if that location has been assigned coordinates.

Q: What is the difference between Tasks and Inspections?
A: Tasks are used for the purpose of managing all kinds of work. Inspections are specifically for tree management, including evaluating risk.
πΏ Examples of tasks a user can create in IrisBG include:
- accessions needing images
- garden locations that need weeding
- accessions with missing tags
- accessions that need monitoring
- taxon records that need name verification
