Wild-origin plants make up the core of the plant collections at Bergen University. Many are acquired during staff collecting expeditions, like the trip to Serbia in 2019. During our March Coffee Chat, Michael David Pirie & Heidi Lie Andersen, both Associate Professors and Curators at the Bergen University Gardens in Norway, illustrated their method of transferring data collected in the field using iNaturalist into IrisBG.

Thanks to all of you who joined us! The Coffee Chat attendees were a good mix of users with 23% of the users identifying as novice, 46% intermediate users, and 31% advanced users.
Twenty seven percent of participants use Store Module for their Index Seminium in IrisBG.
Twenty seven percent of participants make use of the Web Store or indexseminum.org.

Q:  Are you able to hide the location of endangered species in iNaturalist?

A: Yes. You are able to omit or obscure the location.

Q:  How can we unambiguously verify taxa with permanent identifiers to aid in moving records back and forth between the BGCI Plant Search and IrisBG?

A:  Integrating exported Taxonomic Lists from BGCI's Plant Search is an in-progress feature request.

Q:  Does the latest version of IrisBG have the correct format for uploading to BGCI's Plant Search?

A:   Yes, as of IrisBG version: 4.5.3.24012 - date: 2024-01-18, the new report format for Plant Search is included.
