2023-03-07: LSID field error: use WFO

The LSID sends a query to https://ipni.org. Unfortunately, the IPNI has changed the query format and returns the same result for all names.

What is the LSID field?

A built-in feature of IrisBG, the LSID field is used to check against the IPNI-database to ensure the correct taxon name with author citation has been chosen. Within the last week, we have received many user reports that the function is returning the incorrect data, family "Orchidaceae",  for all Genus-species queries. 

 

We will switch the lookup to use the World Flora Online (WFO) instead, but that will not be available until the next version update is released. 

 

For now, please check botanical nomenclature by selecting the WFO option from the Web Search button in the toolbar.
