IrisBG’s Multilingual Data module allows recording data using different languages in dedicated fields. This add-on module is fully supported by the Data Import module and can be uploaded to your Garden Explorer.
🌱 Check out our multilingual support for right-to-left languages in Garden Explorer, as in this example for Jerusalem Botanical Gardens.
For setting up the Multilingual Data Entry feature, simply get in touch and let us know which languages you choose to add. With the purchase of the Multilingual module, you can request as many different language options as you need. There is no limit to how many languages you can add.
The option for entering data in multiple languages is available for these selected Taxa screen fields via the language button.
- Description
- Usage notes
- Label text
- Distribution
- Habitat
The Location and Code lists screens also offer the ability to enter data in more than one language. |
The Location screen shows the English, "Arboretum", translated into Spanish & Norwegian. |
The data stored within each multilingual field can also be included in reports and labels.
Step 1
Enter data in the default, primary language.
Note: Altering data in this field will not affect the data entered in the other language fields.
Step 2
Enter data in additional languages.
- Press the button to open a pop-up window that displays a list for data entry. Each row in the list has a protected column with the language code and a column for data entry.
Please note the following:
- Data for the default language must be present before additional language data can be saved.
- If the total length of all data exceeds the field limit, further input will be prevented.
- Press the button to accept the data entered and close the pop-up window. To reject changes and close the pop-up window, press the button (or your keyboard's Escape key).
💡Tip! Need to remove data from these fields?
If all data contained within the default language field are removed (e.g. by using the Backspace key), a question mark (?) will be shown if data is still present in the other language fields.
Press Ctrl+Delete on your keyboard in the main input field to remove data from all language fields.
